Patron

Honey-Bear Alchemy's Patron, is a line bred buck from CH. Honey-Bear Hagen's Paisley, baby picture to left, adult three year old at right (yes, his left ear got torn...). Patron's pedigree His dam, Paisley, is a magnificent doe who has evaluated (HES) excellent with a 91 mammary and a 92 dairy character. Patron is an extremely gentle and pleasant buck to be around. He is black with small white spots all over, and a small amount of light brown trim on his legs and belly. Of his kids born here, there are about 60% does and about 75% spots, evenly across sex, although with a very wide variance of types of spotting pattern. The "Snowflake pattern" that he throws probably traces back to Cadillac Piejar in his lineage, a silver and black buck (that I recently found some straws from!!) Patron has sired five does of this pattern, from five differing dams, and now has two granddaughters of this coloring as well. Patron has the slightly flatter and shorter Cadillac head and nose, but good ear length. His babies seem so far to inherit a nose in between their dam's and his, shortened a little by his head (making ears look even longer). Additionally all the daughters I have seen of his freshen, have major improvements in their udders (shape and quantity) from their dams, bringing them back and up. His topline and rump are his weak areas, but his kids to date have rumps and toplines better than his, so this seems not to be passed on. He is very slimly built, as well, and did not receive what I wished as appraised - L.A. 68 FAA. Bucks are not rated on tempermanent-but anyone who has had many goats has many stories (all usually bad!!) to share about bucks. Patron is the by far the nicest buck, temperament wise, I have ever owned, and that's why he is still here, I guess. He comes when called, talks very little and quietly, and leads very easily.
Patron is family to me! After six years of breeding him I decided
to officially retire him this year. Rather than sell him as a buck,
or chance him becoming "goatburger", he continues to live his retirement
years out now as a wether.
